Botulinum Toxin
 (Xeomin, Botox)

Treatment Overview

Frown lines form when facial expressions are made as the muscle under the skin contracts. Over time, as your skin ages, these repeated expressions cause lasting frown lines. Neurotoxins, such as Xeomin®, are prescription medications that block the release of chemicals that cause these muscle contractions which allows frown lines to soften.

On the Day of Your Injections

Keep your head up 2 hours after your treatment - no naps, massages, or anything that would require you to be face down.

No wearing hats at least 12 hours afterward as the physical pressure on the area has the potential to move the medication.

No working out or running for at least 12 hours. The increased blood flow could move the medication from one location to another.

Do not sleep on face or side for 24 hours. Sleep on back.

No going in the sun or sweating for 24 hours, as this can deactivate the medication.

Avoid doing any activities that cause your head to be below your waist for an extended amount of time.

The Following 2 Weeks

No facials, chemical peels, micro needling, or dermaplaning.

Be patient. It takes a full two weeks for product to set in. Some muscles absorb the medicine faster than others, so asymmetry is normal during this time.

Follow up with your provider at the end of two weeks to let them know if you are happy with your results. Touch ups are normal. We can always add more Botox, but we can't take it away! We recommend starting slow to see how your body responds.

Post-Treatment Care

Bruising is normal.  Topical application of arnica or toothpaste on the affected area can reduce bruising and redness.

Having a slight headache after injections is normal. Tylenol is recommended over Motrin to relieve any discomfort.
